How To Practise Interactive Vintage Maps
Today I was going to sit down downward as well as write a tutorial on how I created the Mapa. The map is a 1891 map of Bogotá, Republic of Colombia overlaid alongside pop-ups containing data nearly some of the city's prominent politicians at the fourth dimension (mapped to their habitation addresses).
The NYPL tutorial was written past times Mauricio Giraldo Arteaga. By some foreign coincidence Mauricio has every bit good been playing roughly alongside some of the same vintage maps of Lower Manhattan which I used inwards my New York Vintages Maps collection.
His ScrollNYC is a visualization of vintage New York metropolis maps from 1660 through to 1921. Each of the historical maps has been overlaid on summit of a static Mapbox modern map of New York. As y'all scroll downward the page each static map is replaced past times an older map inwards opposite chronological order.
